    Is this for the Civil Service or another public sector body?

    If CS, STAR is definitely the correct model to use

    Came in to say this. Public Sector love SMART and you'll get a score for each one.
    Actually as a civil servant the recommendation is STAR (Situation, Task, Action Response) or SOAR (Situation Opportunity Action Response), not SMART  - this is used for objectives when in the job.

    Yes, apologies, I used SMART at a previous job, my only experience of STAR was in applying for a Civil Service job and I got the two confused.
