in Cutting tax
Hi I’m filling in my SA and have one foreign income item to enter it’s from paid work. When I view my calculation the gross amount of the foreign income isn’t included in my total taxable income and I can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong. I’ve entered under the foreign income section both the gross amount and the tax I’ve paid in the foreign country. Can anyone help?

You really need to provide more details about exactly what you have entered in each box on the foreign income pages of the return.Lux_K said:Hi I’m filling in my SA and have one foreign income item to enter it’s from paid work. page 1 of tailor your return I’ve clicked yes for “ if you received any foreign income do you need to complete the foreign section?”Page 1 of Foreign income details
“were you unable to transfer some or all of your overseas income to the UK? I’ve answered No.
Page 2 of Foreign income details
“Which of the following types of income or gain did you receive from overseas sources?
I’ve clicked the box for Employment, self employment and other income which you paid foreign tax on
Under the foreign tax paid on employment self employment and partnership page I’ve added the country code, the amount of foreign tax I’ve paid and the taxable amount I was paid. The taxable amount is not appearing in final calculation under my total income which then makes my calculation incorrect.
i hope I’ve explained this but if not just let me know0 -

Page 1 tailor you return - assuming you had only foreign employment income then you should also have ticked the box for employment income as you need to complete the employment section of the return with details of the foreign employment income.
(You do not include the foreign tax deducted in the employment section as it only asks for details of UK tax deducted, which will be zero.)
When you have completed the employment income section the foreign employment income will be included in the calculation.
It appears you have completed the foreign section correctly but did you tick the box to confirm you want to claim credit for the foreign tax deducted from the foreign employment income?
If you read the SA106 notes they explain all this:
