I bought a cooked ham on the bone joint (Tesco finest) at a knockdown price which needs to be eaten by 6 Jan..it only says 'keep refrigerated' on it...
I probably shouldn't have bought it, being that I am on the gc..in fact wish I hadn't now really if I can only use it up over the weekend..
Anyway is there any way I can freeze this? as I freeze cooked chicken I thought maybe I could with this?

I buy a big gammon joint before Christmas, cook in the SC, have a hot meal from it and then slice and freeze the rest to eat over Christmas and the new year. The ham is fine once defrosted, just needs to be wrapped carefully to avoid freezer burn.
I can't see why it should be any different for the joint you've bought.0 -
If it's not cooked I'd cook it first, then freeze in portions without the bone in because that'll save freezer space. One day I might be more organised...........

I too would cook it first then freeze it in portions. Depending on how you cook it you may also be able to get a stock for some soup (if you like to make you own soup that is)Sealed Pot Challenge #6010

I am feeling much better about this purchase now, dh has just 'carved' it up (it was a cooked one) and I have packaged it up in lots of cling film, in nice portions to have as it is and also for pasta, pies etc.. got loads out of it so not too bad after all..:j ..Thanks for the adviceJun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30
