Is anyone looking at annuities which leaves a balance on death to a spouse and potentially avoids IHT ?

There is no IHT between spouses (at least currently anyway)..........and why not just consider a joint life annuity to provide for a spouse?
I'm not sure that the "balance" left to the spouse would avoid IHT after the spouse's death either.......AIUI it would count as part of the spouse's estate?

Is anyone looking at annuities which leaves a balance on death to a spouse and potentially avoids IHT ?No, because
a) value protect will be included in the estate calculation under the new rules (on death to non-spouse)
b) There is no IHT between spouses, and if you are only worried about yourself and your spouse, you wouldn't take on death benefits, but do 100% spouse instead.
