Have not been payed for an electronics engineering contract

Hi,
I recently started a one month electronics engineering contract for a London startup.
I started on 29 sept but finished on 13th oct.
I finished early because I had solved their problem, so i didn't insist that they keep paying me throughout a 2 week notice period till the end of the month.

Anyway, I submitted the invoice and their Head of Admin emailed me  on 13th Oct and wrote  that I would "be payed on tomorrow's payment run". (ie 14th oct)

However, I still have not been payed and its now 23rd october.

I must admit in my contract it said I would be payed on the last business day of the month.

Do you think there is cause for concern here?

How about asking them when you will get PAID.

If accounts meant tomorrows "Payroll Run" it is often 1-2 weeks between the day that payroll is run, and the day the payments are recieved in the employee acccouts.
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
  • If they normally pay on the last business day of the month, would they do a run on the 14th?

The OP is not an employee but a sole-trader contractor.

If the OP's invoice was processed in the "payment run" on 14th October, that might be a two week process (or longer) before funds transmit and clear to the OP's account.  The only way for the OP to find out about the company process is for the OP to ask the company.

At least the OP has been able to submit an invoice which has been accepted by the customer

Yes - the payroll run is when they process the data on their system.  Then normally the payroll department looks for any problems the automation can't handle or otherwise missed - new starters, one off contracts, late notice of someone leaving - and tidies things up before the actual pay day.

It's been pointed out a number of times that it's paid and not payed on most of their posts.
I wonder if they're just posting to get a rise out of people.
  • I think the whole thing is BS.

In the OP's other topic, he was still querying in the evening of 13/10 what details needed to go in the invoice so he could send it. Now he's claiming that they emailed him on the 13th to confirm it would be paid on the 14th.

Payroll run is irrelevant as the OP is a sole-trader contractor and not an employee.

I'm being nice and not picky on easily understood typing errors, even repeated errors.

    Easily understood? Perhaps.

But, whether the OP is being PAID or PAYE'd could very well affect the answer to his/her question.

Thanks - I had not considered the capitalisation and apostrophe as options.

I still think it was obvious what the OP meant from the context.
