Substitution refunds

I don’t normally supermarket shop online but for a weekend away with friends in a AirBnB it made sense. I had a substitution which meant I was due a small refund. However this is only available as a voucher for use online only and expires in 2 months. I contacted Sainsbury’s but they told me they are unable to give me the money any other way. Where do I stand on this? Do I have to accept this voucher which I can’t use? (My weekly shop is always below the minimum order amount).

I'd probably find a way of boosting the value of a single shop to use the voucher, so for example some bubbly for Xmas, a bigger lot of washing powder etc.JanArcher said:I don’t normally supermarket shop online but for a weekend away with friends in a AirBnB it made sense. That's the terms you agreed to when placing an order.
If you didn't want substitutions and a voucher for the difference in value, you could've turned substitutions off.3 -
Just to clarify I was happy with substitutions. I am just querying whether I have to accept this online voucher only method of refund. I would have been happy to accept an in store voucher, nectar points, even a donation to charity as an alternative but it seems none were possible.0
