Completely stuck with US pension direct deposit

Prior setting up my withdrawals from my 401k, I was able to add bank details online, giving the routing no. and account no. and it brought up Wise partner bank (Community Federal Savings Bank) and there was no mention of Wise in the details. In subsequent phone call to initiate withdrawal, they confirmed the details as entered, again with no mention of Wise.Everythingcomesup13 said:
Oh okay, worth knowing and a very good point... Ill have to call them again tomorrow and double check. Thank you!dunstonh said:A lot of pension administrators will not make payments to Wise as it is not a bank. So, it would be worth checking with the pension administrator before the Wise account is opened if they will accept move service accounts rather than bank accounts.
Might be best to get the Wise account setup first so you are able to give actual bank details to the administrators. Despite the US leadership in technology, US financial institutions can be somewhat archaic in regard to anything not US specific.....1 -
She can join America Citizens Abroad for life for $600 and that will allow her to open a State Department Federal Credit Union account from outside the USA. She can then have the pension deposited there and she can transfer the money to her UK bank. SDFCU uses Wise for international transfers. Details are here.
