Hi all, it was a lot to consider at the time. I moved all my pension funds to a low risk "Bonds" fund for about 4 months until end of March, which had a steady 4.5% annual return. There was no impact to me doing this. I then took the the tax free 25%. Luckily this was before the Iran conflict. I then moved the drawdown pension into a spread of funds and have left it to grow until I need it. I'm hoping that in a couple of years, I will have added back in what I took out and can then look to start withdrawing. Thanks all for the advice.

why “luckily before the Iran conflict”? Stocks have boomed since then!

Yeah right! Some boom that given the FTSE all share is down about 5-6% and the S&P is up about 1.5%.

Rather than a "boom" I'd say they are more like an ECG of someone with a heart condition, depending on the latest social media post. Strong across the past 12 months but who knows these days? Sensible to have your first couple of years put safely to one side and the rest is a longer game.

Just before the conflict started the S&P 500 was 6946. Today it is 7259, so an increase of over 4%.

The FTSE 100 is down about the same.

A global index tracker is up around 3 %.

OP, how close are you to retirement? What is your overall financial situation? How much do you have in savings and how much invested? Do you have a mortgage? If so what type of mortgage and when/how will you pay it off?

And so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
