Mint Credit Card Company

Good afternoon,
I have a debt with Mint that I am paying off a amount each month and now Cabot Financial are offering me a discount if I pay them.
Do I continue to pay Mint or do I write and get confirmation from Cabot saying that they are offering this discount.
Thank you
Catherine W

Well first you need to ascertain who owns the debt, as Cabot are a debt purchasing company.

If Cabot are writing to you, then they will have bought the debt from Mint.

Is there not a letter detailing them purchasing this debt and that you should now pay them, there should be?

The fact they are offer a discount suggests this has been ongoing for quite a while, as discount letters tend to be towards the end of the standard letter process.

Mint isnt a name I have heard for a long while, it used to be an RBS card.

As this is likely to be a very old account, and has been sold at least once, it is well worth asking Cabot (not RBS) to produce the CCA agreement for the debt. If Cabot cant produce it, the debt is no longer enforceable in court and you can stop paying anything to it.
