Money Super Market & Wine52 Free Wine - is it a con?

I've received an email from Money Super Market with an offer of a case (3 bottles really) of wine free, just pay the postage. Here's the details:

New UK customers only. One per household. After your trial case, you’ll become a member of Wine52 (auto-renews at £36/m for 3 wines, magazine, 2 snacks - all items sold separately, contact us to configure your plan). £2.95 delivery applies unless stated otherwise. £2.99 regional surcharge applies for H&I, NI, IOM. Pause or cancel anytime. No minimum commitment, contact customer support to cancel anytime. 18+ only. See website for full T&Cs. Wines may vary. Promotion runs 30 days. Please Drink Responsibly. My query is, how come the postage on the Free Case is £9.95, but the regular postage is £2.95. How do they get away with this? I'm not signing up for it, as I would feel conned. I'll stick to corporation pop!
How does free wine sound?

Is this one of those companies that get you to sign up to a subscription?  So for the freebie the postage might be minimal (£2.95) but going forward you might get a bottles of wine sent to you with little notice and you'll have to pay the (inflated?) cost of the wine plus £9.95 postage.

    I may be wrong.

Cancelling this is a major pain, they guilt trip you like your wouldn't believe, almost had to tell them I was an alcoholic to get to let me go. it really isn't worth three free bottles of wine unless you intend to stay with them.

    You're not wrong.
The info says 'you'll become a member'.
    The monthly subscription is clear.

I absolutely echo this, Wine52, and the related Beer52 are both a nightmare to cancel (by taking the initial box, you sign up to a subscription). In the case of Wine52 I found the wines were pretty mediocre and probably overpriced.

Avoid these subscriptions like the plague.
