Parking fine recieved year after alleged incident in hospital car park

Today- 15/10/25, I have recieved letter from  Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd, regarding an alleged contravention incurred from ParkingEye Ltd.

This is very first communication ever regarding incidents which were alleged to have occured
25/10/24  and 11/11/24- almost a year ago. There has been no notification until now of these penalties. The area I am alleged to have parked in is in the grounds of a psychiatric hospital - there are no times stated on the contraventions , however at that time of year, I believe the " clocks would have gone back".

I need to check my personal records, however I believe I could have parked in the area then as I was recieving care from the mental health crisis team due to suicidal intention and I went there for treatment- my appointments were all approx tea time, and would have been dark outside.

I have been told it is too late to appeal ( which I will anyway) however how can it take almost 1 year for a charge to be issued? There is no photographic evidence attached to prove I was there or parking was unpaid etc. Apparently I can only dispute the charge if matter taken to court- which I would be happy to attend.

Any advice would be most gratefully recieved- I have been charged £70 x2 for each incident and a " fee" of £70 - in total a charge of £280
