Hot on the heels of the film The Golden Compass, BBC Audiobooks have published three wonderfully scary Phillip Pullman audios from the His Dark Materials trilogy. Northern Lights (which has been filmed as The Golden Compass), The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass are all unabridged and read by the author and a cast. The stories mix science, theology and magic to fantastic and exciting effect and we have one set of all three titles to give away courtesy of BBC Audiobooks.
Northern Lights (9 CD set)

Set in a parallel world very similar to our own, Northern Lights tells the compelling story of 12-year-old Lyra's quest to rescue her friend and find her father, aided by her daemon, an armoured bear, and a witch-queen.
The Subtle Knife (8 CD set)

In this stunning sequel to Northern Lights, the intrepid Lyra Silvertongue and her daemon, Pantalaimon, find themselves in a shimmering, haunted other world – Cittàgazze, where soul-eating Spectres stalk the streets and wingbeats of distant angels sound against the sky. Here she meets twelve-year-old Will Parry, a fugitive from a third universe. Armed with the subtle knife, a tool that cuts any material (including that which separates universes) and Lyra’s alethiometer, the children set out to find John Parry, with adults of various stripes in desperate pursuit.
The Amber Spyglass (12 CD set)

Lyra and Will find themselves in the final part of the story facing great perils. But there are old friends that come to their aid, not least Iorek Byrnison, the armoured bear, and the scientist, Dr Mary Malone. There are new allies: the Galvespians, hand-high dragonfly riders with poison spurs, and the mulefa, strange wheeled creatures with the power to see Dust. And there are new dangers, including a journey to the worst world of all- a journey that exerts a terrible cost on both children.
