Prepping for mortgage application

Hey!
We are applying for a mortgage hopefully in the next couple of months and I've been trying to get sorted best I can, pay things off etc. we have made a few mistakes in the past and so our credit is average and therefore our broker has said Kensington or Kent will be the best options for us.
i really don't want it to decline so trying to prep best I can, what do my bank statements need to be like to pass? Am I overthinking it bcos I'm terrified of spending any money whatsoever or going into my arranged overdraft?

Are you going into your arranged overdraft? On top of your other 'past mistakes' this would not be a good thing.
Any gambling transactions?
Has your broker not advised you?0 -
They will go through your transactions.
But mainly they are looking for your wages and any commitments.
They are not going to say, ah you had a meal out so your not for us.
They will assume you spend x amount on everything anyway (ie utilities, socialising, travel etc), some will be above, some will be below.
Dont go mad with your spending, but dont become a recluse eating noodles for 3 months either.
