SEG tarrif Scottish gas not supporting this installation.

Through Scotland home energy I have recently had solar panels and battery fitted to my home along with smart meter. I tried to sign up to the SEG tarrif but a message comes up saying this installation is not supported. Can anyone throw any light on this? If there's an answer out there before trying to contact Scottish Gas it would be appreciated. Anytime I contact them is just awful

I don’t know about Scottish Gas, but do you have a MCS certificate and a letter from the  DNO G98/G99, you need those usually in England

OK Mr Lobster, take tongue out of cheek !

You will no doubt be aware that there are several members in this group who are resident in Scotland. We'll overall there is not as much generation for obvious geographical reasons but a greater heating need ( cooler climate ) and longer summer daylight hours so it is still very worthwhile....but I guess you knew that really!

@russetred I am with BG but as part of the FIT scheme.. I have surprisingly found them to be great to deal with. Not sure if SEG is administered by the same team but always had good responses. Maybe worth going in a round about route to try and get answers? Email address britishgas.co.uk/fit might be worth a try?

Very true, and for anyone interested, I just had a quick play with PVGIS to guestimate average annual generation for Scotland v's 'the south'.

I didn't go to absolute north south extremes, as quite a lot of people/houses lie between, so I stuck a pin in Oxford, and Sterling. Both systems south facing with 40d pitch.

    Oxford suggests 1,020kWh/kWp pa.
Sterling suggests 880kWh/kWp pa. [86% of Oxford.]

I don't think that's as big a diference as many may have thought. And falling costs for PV panels, alongside their steady growth in efficiency, will have helped too this last decade or so.

Just for context/comparison - I'm in S. Wales, which has pretty good generation, but my roofs face E/W so my generation is ~800kWh/kWp. So a 'good' roof in Scotland, can actually beat a 'poor' roof in the south. [I've recently added a steep pitch south facing ground mount to boost winter gen, and that's ~970kWh/kWp.]
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

Iv've never had to sign up for SEG export with Scottish Power, so have no particular insights.
What information did SP ask you for when signing up?
As has been asked above, did you receive a MCS Certificate with the information pack for your installation?
You might have to try and contact SP, useless though their CS service might be.

Ahem....OP trying for SEG with Scottish Gas (part of BG).....and not SP.....but that reminds it is worth trying several providers and moving to the one that gives the best overall deal commensurate with good CS ( and yes SP do seem to be very poor on that score)
