Just didn't like it return request

Sold a laptop battery on eBay, buyer has requested a return stating the reason as he "just didn't like it"

Obviously I cannot resell the item, as a private seller what are the pros and cons of declining the request?

Whilst it's frustrating, I expect they'll be more cons than pros so will probably end up refunding, but making him pay for postage.

You can try to get the buyer to pay for postage, but the problem is these people usually just submit a claim "not as described" and eBay sides with them. You then have the choice of either getting your item back or not, but you will be forced to refund the buyer regardless. As a seller it is a lose/lose scenario, it is just a case of how much you want to lose.

What was your returns policy on the item? If you say you accept returns then there is little you can do

If you stated you didnt accept returns then you may win an argument with eBay if they list the reason for return as change of mind/dont like it but are likely to lose if they contest on the basis of not as described or something else.

    Thanks both.

I don't accept returns (I do in reality)

As the buyer has opened it under "just didn't like it" thinking I'll try and get them to pay for postage so they're out of pocket with that. If I end up paying its only a few £ on top in the scheme of things and at least I made them have to do some admin 😂

With a laptop battery, I would be very wary of receiving the buyer's old/broken/dead battery in return.

    I thought the same!
