Capital Gains Carry Forward Query

I’m completing my SA for 2024/25 year.  This will be the first year where I have not purchased or sold any shares. I have £8000 of previous year losses I’ve been carrying forward and have been entering on previous tax year SA.  However, when completing the Capital Gains section for 2024/25, it first asks for what assets I am disposing off. I just want to carry forward previous year losses.  If I don’t choose anything I get an error that I need to choose an option. If I then choose shares and skip through to the end and put in £8000 I want to carry forward, I’m told I must upload my computations for disposals.  Should I not complete this and just refer back to old previous year declarations when I finally want to use my losses in future years? I think what I am asking is, do I need to tell hmrc of the losses I want to carry forward each year on my sa even though there are no gains or losses to report on that year.

Thanks

My understanding is that you don't complete the capital gains section of the self assessment if there are no disposals in the year in question, even if you wish to carry forward previously-declared losses from a past year to a future one, skipping the present one.
