I am looking at the best option for getting hearing aids for the first time. The audiologist at the NHS said 'yes, hearing aids would help but they would just make everything louder'; I struggle with clarity rather than volume. Not sure anyone else has mentioned this - I've quickly read other replies and can't see it.

If these are your first, I wouldn't buy anything online if you have to fit it yourself. It's useful to get it set up for you, as what you feel is 'right' and what is actually right might be two very different things!

How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
