Morning GERS and all to follow. Yesterday they lied about the promised sunshine. It didn't happen and stayed gloomy all day. Today it is promised for most of the day. We'll see if that happens.
SS with DS has been postponed until tomorrow so I might have a bus trip out somewhere today instead. It would be a shame to miss out on the promised sunshine.
DD and the DGDs (but not eldest who is still hobbling around in her boot and crutches!) are doing the Sue Ryder starlight hike again tonight. They do it every year. It should be better weather than last w/e when we were in the midst of the rain and gales! DD has worked in one of their hospices since we lost my Bob so she knows how important it is to raise as much money as they can.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad or lonely. I hope all with the nasty colds are at least no worse. Take care all, stay safe xx

Thanks for starting Gers.
It's dry here, as was yesterday. I've just put a washing load in , I might get them dry outside.
Dd has given me a carrier bag full of apples, their tree has done well this year like everyone else's. I'll have to process them and put them in the freezer, might be able to store some in the shed as well. She said she still has loads at home.
Its lovely that the girls are doing the Sue Ryder hike TA,
hope the weather is kind to them.
Hope everyone has a good day. Thoughts to Dp1and anyone else who is not well, also YorksLass and TA .
Take care folks.15 -
Good morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Quite fresh here. I’ve been out for my walk/run. Still get terrible anxiety whenever I see another walker/runner and today there was a group doing some kind of boot camp up and down the lane around the 4k mark. I said good morning but just got a grunt lol. Oh and someone horrible has let their dog foul on our driveway. Have asked neighbours if they have any doorbell footage - really not on (and it’s huge…)More gardening today - I’m going to tackle one of the long borders. Will need DH to move some heavy pots first though. DH will hopefully finish off the towel radiator in the bathroom as some parts arrived yesterday. We are at the local village pub tonight as the landlords are retiring and it’s their last night.Lovely that DD and the DGD’s will do the walk tonight @TravellingAbuela x.Get well soon @dp1 and @Chrisca50 x.Hugs to @YorksLass x.Thinking of you @snoozer - must be so quiet without the children xx.Have a good day everyone

Morning All
Overcast here but dry. I have a working WM so will put it on in a bit and hang the washing out for a while. It will have to come out again later in the week for some more work to be done. There's still a dehumidifier out there trying to dry the concrete, hopefully it will dry soon.
Hope you enjoyed your civil ceremony Gers.
Thinking of you Yorklass and TA, hope your DD and DGDs raise lots of money.
Happy apple-ing Scarlet.
I've been struggling with tummy pain all week so am happy to have a week off, I'm going with a friend to Berwick Upon Tweed on Monday so need to be well by then. I was back at the Drs on Wednesday and got lots of painkillers, feel like I'm rattling!
Hope your new job goes well Ruby and Matt gets the support he needs.
Shopping to do this morning then an afternoon on the sofa I think. I actually went back to bed this morning and had another hour but could do with a lot more sleep!
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX11 -
Good morning everyone
Thanks for all the good wishes, I felt a lot better yesterday and had a nice day just pottering about and reading.
Little one was on the phone before bed last night with her full round-up of the day....she was pleased with herself as her sessions with the play therapist finished last week, so it was the first Friday she'd been at school all day for months. Actually it would have been her first whole week at school since she was ill last summer!
I'm not seeing her this weekend in case of lingering germs, but I will pop down to see mam and dad tomorrow.
I've made a start on mams Christmas shopping on Amazon for her while I had plenty of time.
Camelot - enjoy your visit to Berwick, the forecast looks ok for next week...your half term seems to have come around quickly, we've still 2 weeks to go.
TA - well done on your daughter and granddaughters for doing the walk.
Coxy - that's so disgusting, I don't understand why anyone would do that!
Thinking of you Yorks lass x
Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning everyone thanks for the start Gers well done to the girls TA it’s a hospice charity shop I volunteer in and I know how desperate they are for money and how hard it is to raise it . Coxy I spend my day saying why do people have dogs if they are not going to pick up after them it’s disgusting I have pulled a few people who pretend they don’t see what there dogs are doing they know fine well just laziness when we were away my hubby stopped a man it was in the Main Street right outside a shop said he hadn’t realised then he didn’t have a bag on him we give him one and stood and watched him pick it up and bin it he wasn’t very happy tough neither was anyone else. I hope everyone with these coughs and colds are starting to feel better I hope you enjoyed your civil ceremony Gers . When I went to the charity shop yesterday the manager was showing us photos of her daughters wedding last week she drove herself there on a tractor she had the reception in a barn that was decorated in hundreds of pom-poms that she and friends she roped in had made everyone was in vibrant autumn colours some lovely reds and oranges it looked absolutely brilliant and a good time was had by all just goes to show you don’t have to spend a small fortune to have a wonderful day . Well I don’t know what the weather is doing it looks pretty dull outside I think it will be a dog walk and housework today . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Morning all
I slept in till 10 after a very disturbed night, I had a call from mums alarm people to say that her alarm had been pressed and they had called an ambulance so I went round and she was sitting up drinking cocoa, I phoned and cancelled the ambulance and went home, I got another two calls during the night to say an ambulance had been called and could I go round to which I said no she is fine she would have called me if she needed me so I had a very disturbed night, I have spoken to mum and she is fine and had not pressed the alarm, it seems there may be a fault this happened last weekend too and it’s always late at night 😩
So I will have a lazy day today as I have no energy I have put a wash on this morning and will hang that out and have a quick tidy through downstairs.
Dinner tonight will be steak and chips with garlic mushrooms OH will cook as it’s his turn.Dd and her friend have gone on a day trip to Dublin they got a flight early this morning it took 48 minutes they will spend the day there and get a flight home this evening they have booked the Guinness tour too.
TA good luck to your girls for the walk xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Good afternoon all, thanks @Gers for starting today's thread. Not that many sunny intervals yesterday but today is more promising - a sunny, dry and calm day with a light breeze but feeling much cooler, especially overnight. Our postman is still wearing shorts (hardy soul) whereas I'm starting to add layers.
Love the thought of trees doing a Kojak impersonation. @NRA.
Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts, they'll help a lot over the coming weeks. I'm not sure about a party @mehefin, although DS may want to do something to mark the day, maybe a meal out. If that's what he'd like, that's fine with me. We'll see.
Weekly admin done yesterday including going through my phone contacts list and address book to delete the "no longer needed" entries. More than I thought there would be but, as many of them were to do with DH's cancer/care etc, it was quite cathartic. Credit card seamlessly migrated from one bank to another, ISA to follow next month. Successful Co-op trip - stuck to shopping list, soft plastics disposed of and two books returned/none borrowed. When I got home I surveyed the pile of unwanted items left in the communal hallway for disposal (it's a "given" that others can help themselves) and rescued three large photo frames. Two have been used but are in perfect condition, the third is brand new and still in its wrapper. If I don't use them, I'll donate them to the hospice CS. All in all, a good day.
Onto today. Soup making - spicy carrot & red lentil using YS carrots bought yesterday. Council survey to do this afternoon asking for tenants' thoughts on them charging for necessary repairs etc that have been caused by tenant neglect. Tbf, it is already part of the tenancy contract but so far rarely enforced. Obviously part of their efforts to reduce expenditure but, in my view, a fair point. Dinner tonight is a shop bought ready meal (not something I do often I hasten to add!) - beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice but I will eat it at the table.
Then a curl up on the sofa for a spot of TV viewing.
@TA - Good luck to your girls doing the Starlight Hike tonight, I hope they raise a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause.
@Ruby - Those alarms are very useful when they work properly which your mum's obviously isn't, fingers crossed you can get it sorted out sooner rather than later.
Have a good day all, take care, lots of TLC recommended for the poorly ones. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Good afternoon all.
Nice and sunny, a fine Autumn day.
Yesterday was spent on the phone to my DD quite a lot. She is helping to organize her MiL's funeral, but is having a difficult time with her Sister in law. SiL has a brother and sister, his brother isn't concerned and is happy to let his sister make all the arrangements. Understandably, she wants to give her mum a good send off, but in DDs eyes she is going over the top. She has taken it on herself to order all the flowers, which atm are costing £1000, and shes still going. Also she wants her two brothers to pay the majority of the cost as they both have children, she doesnt. Then theres the wake she wants. Funerals are never a good time for families in my experience. DD and family are going out for the day today to get away from things.
Washing done and drying on the line, burger and chips for tea, then Strictly and the 1% club.
TA, good luck to your girls, hope the weather holds out for them.
YL, ((hugs))
Have a good day all, take care.
