Wages issue

Hi

My wages are paid into my Monzo account and one of the features on the account is at 4pm the day before payday you can request your money to be paid in the day before.  Never had an issue using this feature but when I did it this month the balance was showing but was greyed out and i had no access to it, couldnt tranfer anything or pay anything.  I rang Monzo daily who said it was just waiting to clear but could take a couple of days.  5 days later my Monzo account showed 0.00 and they confirmed the money had bounced back to the original sender (my employer).  i have spoken to my employer several times a day since Monday (5 days) and they have confirmed no money has landed back with them so they will not issue me an advance.  I am at a bit of a loss as to what has happened, where are my wages (as they appear to be in limbo at the minute).  I am currently using savings to pay my mortgage etc but am fast running out of money and dont know what to do or where the responsibility lands? Is it with the bank or my payroll dept.  I know I will never use this feature on Monzo again after this experience.
Any advice would be really helpful!

Sounds like this need to look further into the account that the wages are paid out off.

Please elaborate as to how "you can request your money to be paid in the day before"

There is no way you can pull money from a payroll run at an employer, so does Monzo lend you the funds for a few hours on the basis you will be paid?

It all sounds a bit wooly to me.

I have noticed that certain (PIP for one) payments come into my Santander account around 20:00 on the day before they are actually due. So I can transfer them to another account.

It's a bacs payment. They already know the money is coming in.

Payment not sent properly by your employer. Chase up the payroll department

So the OPs assertion that they were requesting to have their money paid in the day before WAS incorrect and Monzo are allowing use of yet to arrive incoming funds which they know about.

It does seem odd that the correct amount was showing but greyed out which was not what had previously occured.

That does suggest that Monzo knew it was coming but were not making it available for some reason.

Monzo advertise you can get your salary a day early. I’ve done it for months and never had an issue but now there is nothing there. My employers aren’t being helpful they say to chase with Monzo and monzo say it’s bounced back and to ring my employer. Just feel a bit catch 22 currently

As none of us actually know what is sent by whom and when, the fact that it was greyed out when that is not normal suggests to me that either the amount or other details did not match somewhere and the credit was not processed and rejected by Monzo.

Time to ask your employers where they sent your money.

Surely they sent it to Monzo, yes the amount was greyed out but how would they know what the amount was otherwise?

Maybe what arrived did not match what had been advised in advance, so therefore bounced.

We can keep speculating and guessing ad infinitum as none of us know how the system failed.
