Advice Needed with Cabot Financial

Hi, I'm new here and need some advice if possible. I've been reading as much as I can but I'm confused about what to do. I have summarised and, hopefully, added the info needed below:
Credit card with Santander - last payment was made 2 Jul 2019. I have a default showing on my credit report (no balance shown) as registered on 4 Dec 2019 by Cabot Financial.
As I understand it the debt should be statute barred as the point of default would have been the non-payment on 2 Aug 2019 and more than 6 years have now passed?
If the debt is statute barred, is my best option to send a statute barred letter, or a prove it letter? I'm aware that the default 'should' drop off my credit record in a couple of months and I'd like to avoid any kind of court action.
No letters have been received ref court action (although I moved house 4 years ago) but I am getting multiple calls per day (not answered)
Many thanks in advance for any advice you are able to give!

The "cause of action date" is deemed to be the date the default notice would have been sent, or more commonly the date of default registered on your credit report, upheld by a court of appeal ruling in 2019.
If it came to it, you may also be able to argue that the date of the last payment would have a similar effect on its limitation status.
Ideally stay silent on this, once December 4th has passed, you will know you`re in the clear.
Cabot has until that date to start a court claim, so just over 6 weeks to go, don`t do or say anything before that date unless they send you a letter before action, if that happens, post back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
