I understand its quite rare for this kind of debt to be pursued in this way?
not really sure what my options are, am I able to negotiate an arrangement and avoid court?
Thanks
p.s this is an ancient debt, and relates to old posts

' ancient debt ' When did you last pay it?If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0

Depends on the issuer, believe AmEx is more likely to go to court than other lenders.
No personal experience but generally by the time papers have been issued the only thing that will stop the claimant is an offer of settlement and the actual payment, they may accept a payment plan in principle but will allow the action to continue to get the CCJ having already incurred the issuing costs etc.0 -
What communications have you received about this in the last few months?
Are you paying other debts but not this one?0 -

You've been asked specific questions because the rules around debt change massively if you've neither paid or made written acknowledgement in the last 6 years (5 in Scotland).
There's a risk that by engaging in the saga, you've made written acknowledgement. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Have you received a Letter Before Action? Or an N1 Court Claim form?
When did you last make a payment to this one?
Do you have others you are trying to avoid paying?
Sorry but if you want some useful replies, you need to answer the questions you are asked0 -

I have received a claim form via Civil National Business Centre
its from a solicitors representing Lloyds, a credit card debt of c£3000
I haven't made any payments for around 2.5 years when I allowed the debt to slip towards default, as advised here as it happens. I haven't made a payment since the last regular monthly payment when I held and used the card..i.e no payments since default...
yes there are other debts, similar, now all in default and mostly not currently chasing...I have taken advice on how to bundle up and manage but I need to address HMRC debt first which is under negotation
