Morning all
Dry here but chilly but at least the wind had dropped a bit. I am off to mums to work this morning and I have booked her an opticians appointment, her eyes are getting worse and worse and she struggles to see a lot of things, she has the injections into her eyes each month but they don’t seem to be helping a great deal so hopefully some new glasses will improve things for a while.
Roast beef for dinner tonight it’s all done so will just need heating through nice easy dinner, the wm is on and I will try and hang the washing before I go out.
I gave the bedroom a good clean yesterday pulled everything out and hoovered / mopped everything the dust under the bed and behind the chest of drawers was unbelievable, it’s all clean and sparkling for a while now, I need to go through the drawers and have a sort out then the whole room is done.
I hope everyone stayed safe during the storm.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all
Spent some time dealing with fallen branches and leaves yesterday - that has generated enough stuff for a tip run which DD and I will do as well as getting rid of my old printer, collecting a new one and getting my new glasses.I’ll take Bdog for a walk by the river this morning - it’s his 11th birthday so he has some bits of chicken leftovers to add to his breakfast (tbh he’d get them anyway 😂 but he’ll think it’s a treat).Hope everyone has a good Monday

Morning again - yes, the wind has died down though the rain is hanging on for an encore! The power wasn't off too long yesterday, I feel so fortunate as there are many other places which have been off since Friday and still aren't connected. That includes the tiny wee group of houses and the hotel directly opposite me across the sea. I indulged in a free hot roll and coffee from the food van arranged by SSEN - again, others further north haven't been so lucky.I checked on a very vulnerable woman from my exercise group - workers from SSEN had been to deliver hot food and hot water and neighbours were looking after her. The chap up the hill from me had a very lucky escape when his Land Rover suddenly became locked in between two falling trees. Two seconds either forward or backward would have seen a very different outcome. Anyway, think we're through the worst of Storm Amy though it's still moving north before heading to Denmark. The clothes I had ordered are just so wrong! The trousers have a very strange crotch area and are far too long. The jumper is lovely but not me. I've decided on a slash neck white T-shirt for under the new pink jacket and my usual black trousers. At least I can wear them again.Today the class is off, no power at the village hall so it's a slobby day. I've already done the weekly banking (doesn't take long) and am ready to catch up with various programmes I missed over the weekend. I'll keep all the candles out JIC. Happy with the SCD result, seemed inevitable really.
Happy birthday to @AA's dog. I hope that all are doing well.10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you have power back now, or soon anyway. All is calm here now after the last horrendous couple of days. It's a bit gloomy but feels mild so I'll settle for that. The upturned pots and planters are still waiting to be put upright so will get that done today.
It's a day of same old same old. Going nowhere but, as always, there are plenty of jobs to keep me going if I cba. I have a white wash chugging away as I speak. but I don't think there's enough to warrant the trek round to peg it out so it will go on the airer upstairs. I think I will get the last corned beef hash portion out to defrost for dinner. After the freezer tidy last week I know where to find it!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning all and thanks @Gers for today's start. Weather conditions in your neck of the woods sound dreadful so I'm pleased to hear it's beginning to calm down and that your power is back on.
Yesterday was dry and mainly sunny as promised, breezy but not too gusty, followed by some overnight rain. Today is forecast to be cloudy and dry with a moderate breeze until later this afternoon, then sunny intervals with a light breeze. Still fairly mild for the time of year but chilly first thing in the morning and in the evenings. Either that or I'm getting soft in my old age!
I made a batch of veg & barley soup yesterday, enough for 3 or maybe 4 portions, so that's some lunches sorted out for the week. I also did some washing that went on the airer to dry - I didn't fancy its chances of staying on the line for long. In the afternoon I part sewed up a jumper ready for the neckband to be knitted up and found a couple more items to go in the CS bag that is leaving the house tomorrow. All in all, not the totally lazy Sunday I'd envisaged!
Today's main event is the SM delivery, arriving sometime between midday and 1 pm, apparently one sub and one short-dated item but otherwise all P&C. Dinner tonight is a tuna & mushroom pasta dish with apple & yogurt for afters.
@Ruby - I'm squirming at just the thought of having eye injections - your poor mum, I hope new glasses will make it a bit easier for her.
@Gers - Shame your clothes order didn't fit the bill but what you've decided on wearing sounds just fine.
Fingers crossed we all have a good start to the new week, stay safe and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Good morning all
Sunny and blue skies here, and the wind has dropped.
Well, yesterday was a roller coaster of emotions. Mrs ND came round to tell us the good news that she is now in remission. We sat chatting for a while, and she had only been gone for a short while when DD rang to give us the sad news that her mother in law had passed away. From happy to sad in the blink of an eye.
Speaking of eyes, I'm slowly getting used to being "lopsided" but still finding it difficult reading along, so I hope everyone is safe and well.
Have a good day all, take care.8 -
Hello everyone, thanks Gers- glad your power came back on.I have been MIA as we all got covid. We knew we were coughing and spluttering but it wasn't until DH hospital appointment with the consultant was coming up that he took a test and it was positive. His appointment was cancelled and he can't get another until mid Nov. Shame because it was hopefully to be his sign off apart from a couple more physios.I have had to throw some fresh food away as we really didn't fancy much , but we're back to normal now hopefully.I'd made a birthday hamper up for our friends 70th last week and we couldn't take it. I'd ordered scones and clotted cream to go in it, so I've re-ordered them for this week and we'll take them later in the week, and we ate the previous lot
There is a lot of news I have probably missed so hope you are all doing ok. The storm was horrible, a few trees and branches down locally, and an old aerial on the chimney has become loose & kept us awake banging around on the roof as the wire was still attached, so that's one job that needs attention.Remmie, glad about Mrs ND but sorry about DDs MiL.Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
