Congratulations Amberelli, that seems a good result.
I am in exactly the same position with Lowell for a similar amount on an overdraft (16 years ago).

My question is, how did you correspond with them, was it by email as I can't see anything on the webpage
Yes, I emailed them at customer_services@lowellgroup.co.uk and just copied the whole contents of the letter.

And just ignore them after that unless they do provide the cca. They often come come out with rubbish like "although we've classed it as unenforceable it does remain valid and collectable", if they can't provide the cca they can't enforce it and anything they say is a desperate attempt to get money from you.
Can anyone advise whether there would be missed payments recorded on his credit file if he stops paying the unenforceable debts please? We are looking at opening a joint bank account but I will hold off if his credit file could be impacted by this, as I don't want that to affect my rating.

Has this debt not already defaulted? The large majority of debts sold to Lowell have.

If it has already defaulted and dropped off the credit record, settling it partially will not cause it to reappear.  If it has defaulted and is still on his credit report, then settling it will change the status to partially satisfied, and it will still drop off 6 years after the default date. If it is on his credit report as a payment arrangement, then stopping paying will result in a default being added...

The "default" marker will take precedence over everything else, if it was sold to Lowell, it must have defaulted already, so that status will continue regardless of it been paid or unpaid, until the six year point when the whole entry will drop off his file.

There are 2 other debts that have been confirmed as unenforceable (by post recently after I requested CCAs) He's been paying them back at £2 and £1 a month for the last 12/13 years.
My question is - if he now stops paying these £1 and £2 monthly amounts for the 2 unenforceable debts (With Link and Cabot) will there be fresh default marks on his credit file as there's a 'payment arrangement' stopped.
