Online greeting cards, which one to choose?

I've been using paper cards for birthdays greetings and some celebrations, but lately they have raised the prices a lot everywhere. Put on top of the search of a proper one that fits the occasion, and I'm a little fed up. Thinking about start using online cards for some upcoming events but not sure which one I could use, some are even more expensive than paper greeting cards and others ask for a subscription which is a non-sense for something you'll use just from time to time. I'd appreciate your experiences and suggestion with online cards.. Thanks.

Personally I think if you can't be bothered to buy, write and post a card (with the costs involved) then you shouldn't bother at all.

I'd rather receive nothing, than what is otherwise likely to go to junk mail.
  • I'm afraid I can't help with online cards but Whistlefish do a variety of styles and often have good deals on a bundle you can stock up on

I have used Moonpig occasionally partly because we had a few birthday cards posted to a  particular address go missing over several months. Since changing to Moonpig they always arrive and I put that down to either a change of postie or the fact that because they say Moonpig on the envelope there will be no cash inside them.

But they don't work out much cheaper than buying your own card and posting it. I have a couple of relatives that send Moonpig every Birthday, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas etc and While the thought is there they are not as nice as getting a hand written card, There is nothing personal about them and I find the printed insides very bland. Would much prefer that effort was put in, choosing and writing is far more personal.

As well as being generally against "online greetings"

I tend to buy cards when I see them - once I saw the perfect card for a friend, two days after their birthday, I bought it and used it the following year. I knew that if I went back in ~10 - 11 months time the card wouldn't be there!

I also find Etsy is a good place to look for cards - yes, some are more expensive than the shops, but there are good value ones too.

Plus it's my go to if I want something personalised, like a wedding card with the date of the wedding and the names of the happy couple.

Thanks for that. I took a quick look and at first glance it looks they try to apply an artistic concept that although I do;t dislike it, maybe are not for everyone. Maybe a little cheesy for the person I have in mind to send it. Anyway I'll check their catalog more in detail. Thanks.
  • Hi all. I spotted this SpinYourGift. it looks something different (kind of online greeting cards). Anyone has tried it? or something similar?
