Quick tip for Recorded Delivery - if you're ordering tickets online and the seller offers Recorded, don't take it, as tickets aren't then covered for compensation if it gets lost.

My understanding is that it wouldn't matter anyway. All the legal advice I have been given has indicated that, until you get your hands on something (or an agent on your behalf), it is very hard to be considered your problem if something goes wrong. Always pay on your credit card. If something fails to arrive, get them to send you more or return your money. If they try and say it is your fault for not using recorded, then go to the credit card company. They will side with you every time. It is the sellers responsibility whether they accept it/like it/provide disclaimers against it, or not.
    2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.
  • UNLUCKY!! I send approximately 100 small packages a month via recorded delivery and after having several complaints of non receipt, i decided to check online the tracking/reference number only to discover over half were confirming delivery. I contacted RM to express my concerns as i am paying for a service that they are not providing.......After ALOT of hassle (RM require original recorded slip, name and address of recipient, details of the item posted the cost you paid for it, the cost you sold it at - including proof, how much postage was paid, where it was posted. RM then write to everyone asking if they have received the said items from you...if they don't reply, it is presumed they have received it and you get nothing!) i was eventually paid out just over £1000 :T for 150 items that had gone astray over a 3 month period.
IMPORTANT ADVICE.... TAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING, RM WILL ONLY ACCEPT ORIGINAL PAPERWORK AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT....USE SPECIAL DELIVERY AND INSURE IT! (standard insurance for special delivery is £500) RM LOST MY FIRST CORRESPONDANCE TO THEM...it turned up just after i pointed out that i had taken out extra insurance covering all the original paperwork upto £2500.

I look at it this way... you wouldn't pay for a steak in a restaurant and settle for a burger would you!

The last while I have noticed that items delivered to me by RM recorded delivery are being left without a signature and those I send recorded are rarely showing as having been delivered via the website (and in some instances I know they have been - but the signing I dont know).

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I just unlucky at the moment!?
