K Code Query

My tax code has changed from 1091L/0 for July to K274 /1 for August & September.
This has resulted in a reduction of the tax deducted by around £500 each month.
I thought a K code resulted in more tax being deducted not less ?
Nothing received from HMRC regarding the change.
I don't have access to my online tax account.

A K code would normally result in more tax compared to 1091L.

But without more details from your payslips, probably June, July, August and September, i's really impossible to know what has happened.

Might be worth checking which figure is not giving the expected answer.
I am assuming that monthly taxable gross for the payslips being compared is the same or nearly the same.
    Using
    https://listentotaxman.com/..
For each tax code enter in the space "Tax code optional".  Just enter 1091L and K274 It does not matter about the basis that is the /0 and /1 for this.
Then enter the taxable gross figure for the month in "Salary" and change the period from year to month.
Then click "Calculate My Wage" and note the tax deducted figure for monthly for each code.  Ignore the yearly figure.
One of them should be about correct and one will be way off.
What you do next will depend on which one is way off.

If it is the 1091 that shows different did you start with this employer this tax year or have you been with them all of 25/26
