Morning All
Dull this morning but dry again which is a bonus. There have been some lovely sunrises around here the past week or so, but cold, had to scrape the car one morning this week.
My visitors went home on Tuesday afternoon so I'm gradually getting the house back in order, DS2's DP was very good and washed the bedding and their towels before they left and put them on the line which was a great help.
Work is getting back to normal, there was a maths event yesterday afternoon that was very well attended for a change so lots of tea and coffee - even the HT helped out! Fun afternoon today after our fabulous inspection so movies, popcorn and an ice cream van!
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX8 -
Morning all
Dry here but cold again it really feels like we have gone straight from summer into winter 🥶
Not a good day with Matt yesterday, the morning went well we went to Goodwood to watch cars racing and the planes taking off which he loved then we went home and I made him some lunch, his mum then went out with a friend and we were going to watch a film, there was something wrong with the internet so we couldn’t get the film started, I could feel him getting more and more anxious but managed to calm him enough to watch another film on dvd, but when mum came back he had a complete melt down - throwing things shouting and trying to kick the dog, it was quite scary there for a while! I did feel sorry for him though he can’t just control his emotions, he is hopefully going into residential soon which I think will be better for everyone involved.
Dinner tonight will be salt and chilly pork belly strips with rice and peas, dd is working late shift so just OH and I here for dinner, not enough washing for a load today so will leave that for tomorrow.
Camelot enjoy your afternoon xxx
Have good days all and take care xx

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Another lovely day in store once the sun tackles the early morning chill.
I was up and at em early doors as I am homeward bound today. DD coming over after the school drop and we are planning lunch on our way home. Maybe Ilkley and we will have a bit of a browse first.
I've been lucky with the weather with some lovely sunny days but blooming cold.early morning and evening and I have needed the heating on.
Have a good day folks take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
The morning has been lovely, such a beautiful sunrise here too though the skies are now back to grey. I'm not too well, the raspy throat has evolved into a thick throat with a loose cough. This kept me in bed longer than normal, I may well go back there after a coffee and breakfast.I watched Slow Horses yesterday, the first episode bodes well for the rest even if the storyline has been tinkered with.Somebody mentioned the new purple background here, I like it. Subtle yet strong. Wish I were!Hugs to all.11

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. So sorry to hear you are poorly. Definitely rest up xx It was me that mentioned the purple. I don’t mind it but thought my phone settings had gone awry!!
We put the heavy bedspread on last night which was lovely but made getting up a bit of a struggle this morning! Thanks for the good wishes for DS2 - he was up against a chap who had done the same role for Morries so was instantly deflated. The role has a 5am start and they are not allowed any leave in December. DS2 is running a marathon in Spain mid-December and has already booked flights and accommodation so even if offered the role, they probably won’t take him. All good interview practice though. Will see what happens.
I am taking Mum for an eye procedure this afternoon then we are off to BFF’s and her DH’s to stay over in Hertford. We will all travel onward to Chester tomorrow morning to see friends for the weekend. That sounds like a fun afternoon @camelot1001Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 18/25 Currently reading It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover9 -

A late greeting from me and thanks for starting today's thread @Gers. Another bright and sunny day, light breeze and decidedly chilly but no rain expected. Yesterday I changed the bedding and am now using flannelette sheets instead of the lighter cotton ones, so much cosier but it does make it even more of an effort to drag myself out of a warm bed in the morning! I'm reserving the duvet for later in the year and will continue with the quilted bedspread for now.
One of my parcels arrived yesterday, two pairs of trousers (half price in the sale), both the same size/length but one pair does seem a wee bit longer than the other and needs an inch taking off. Another one for the sewing pile. The other parcel is due this afternoon (same courier but different suppliers) so the CS visit will be postponed yet again. However, I've had a reminder from the optician to book my annual eye test and, since the CS is almost next door to the optician, I'll combine the two.
The postman woke me up early this morning with a parcel for NDN (she does an early start work shift), then DS paid an unexpected visit to collect some things he left here when he was temporarily staying with me at the beginning of the year and we had a catch up over a bacon sarnie. This afternoon he's going for an interview for a new job (I think he's having a mid-life crisis) but I do understand his reasons for wanting a complete change of direction.
Now I need to catch up on what I should have been doing instead of munching bacon sarnies. Cotton sheets are in the WM, I need to register for NatWest online banking ready for when my credit card and ISA are migrated to their systems at the beginning of October and make an optician's appointment. Tea tonight is a salad (no, I'm not mad just need to use up some salad bits) after which I'll settle down to watch the new series of All Creatures Great & Small - cosy viewing for the darker evenings.
@camelot - Enjoy what sounds like a fun afternoon.
@Ruby - I'm sorry Matt had a meltdown, I hope he can start his residential soon, probably be better for him and his mum.
@TA - Glad you've had good weather for this van trip, even if it was on the chilly side.
@Gers- I'm sorry to hear your throat is worse this morning, give yourself some TLC.
@Coxy - Shame DS2's potential job doesn't sound too promising but, as you say, all good interview practice.
Good grief, it's almost lunchtime! Where does the time go? Take care all, hugs for the poorly ones. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7
