Hi
Im looking into bouncy castle hire business or similar.
Im currently employed in a job I detest and have been off with stress a number of months .
I have been looking at similar jobs but I can only imagine ending up on the same situation within a few years
40 year old
pharmaceutical supplier
(warehouse worker)
Im a carer for my partner and for both my parents .
I also have young children and older children that I/we care for so I need a job which is flexible hours.
my current contract is 5 hours a week then there was Flexible overtime .
Unfortunately this has dried up when we had a new manager joining .
Who has created a lot of stress within the company firing my partner
(currently going through tribunal)
I digress
Ideally I would like to work for myself .
I don't require a high income .
I have a people carrier .
In physical good shape
Also have a rented garage for storage .
Have a lot of tools and basic knowledge on most manual jobs .
From basic building gardening etc ect.
I have been looking into
Bouncy castle hire .
Ideally drop of the castle set up in the morning collect in the afternoon/evening .
Liability insurance.
Pat tested
Generator if required .
Business insurance on my vehicle
Safety certificate for the bouncy castle .
Jet wash to clean .
Unsure the best way to dry (ie if raining)
Declare self employed .
Garden maintenance business
Would require all equipment
Have the transport .
& Insurances
Waste removal .
I've done multiple trips to the dump for personal use so I no what I can fit .
Would need all the insurances
Plus waste carriers license etc .
Then there's the wear and tear on the vehicle.
I wondered what options would be the most profitable with the minimal effort .
Or if there are any other options I'm missing ?
Or possibly do a combination of all 3 ?
I'm not the most intellectual individual.
So just trying to get some feedback on which one to try out with lease stress
Training for a new trade isn't a option.
At present as I was looking at plumbing originally but this won't be a option with my personal life at present .
I do realise in all I would probably earn more just staying as a employee
(sick pay+holiday pay etc )
but I would prefer to earn less and be happier without someone ontop of me all the time .
Many thanks for advice and help .

Hot tub hire is another one - smaller than a bouncy castle so easier to clean/dry. My friend hired one where you could hire just the tub or tub plus gazebo and fairy lights.
You'll need to think about floor protection and glass policies. Maybe providing plastic wine/champagne 'glasses" could be an add onStatement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.1 -

I've just put it away for the winter .
Bit of a !!!!!! to get them clean and they take 24 hours to be heat up .
But I no how to maintain them etc.
And have all the chemicals etc .
Didn't even think of that .
Although only concern people call them s#x ponds for a reason 🤣 .
I'll have to look into that1 -
Have you looked into at the market and demand is in your area? Also the seasonality factors?
Being self-employed can be very stressful. if you’re off with stress on a five hour week contract, it’s very likely that’s as much related to your personal life as it is to work. Which is not going to change, whichever jobs you do.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Self employment is highly stressful and 95% of options has high demand on your time without flexibility, particularly at the start. You can make reasonable money on all the options you list, a friends just bought his 3rd truck for his waste collection business, but its taken years to build up, he works 6 days a week often starting at 5am as the financial security comes from regular clients and various bakeries, cafes etc want their trade waste removed before they open. Then there's dealing with problems if the truck won't start, one guy calls in sick, you dont get to the tip in time... you won't get regular customers or recommendations if you let people down and so you work late despite the 4am alarm clock, have a long trip to the alternative tip etcphill2-0-0-3 said:Hi

I imagine the bouncy castle business is very seasonal? What would you do in the winter months when business is far slower?2

M as an aside, I have just seen a request on a local Facebook page for an inflatable nightclub. I had no idea such a thing existed. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

True. People will book it for probably a couple of hours for a party and if it's in a hall, then it'll need to be there at a certain time.mjm3346 said:
Probably no flexibility either - if its booked it has to be there.Tabieth said:I imagine the bouncy castle business is very seasonal? What would you do in the winter months when business is far slower?
The advantage of a hot tub needing warming is that theres a reason to have to drop it off early

Garden maintenance? Hardly minimal effort and quite likely you'll have the garden owner saying "don't dig up this, prune that, don't stand there". Also very seasonal. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales2
