TFL Charges

I recently drove into London for a 3 day stay with an Irish car. I was aware there would be some charges and used a link I was given to pre-register my vehicle. A couple of weeks later I find my card has been charged a total of £937.50. I called TFL and was advised that the fact the car was Irish meant that they were unable to identify it so I was charged the highest charge of £300 per day LEZ plus £12.50 per day ULEZ.
I was advised on the call to send in relevant documents with photographic proof of the vehicle details and that a refund should then be possible. Today, I received an email response that stated "daily charge payments are non refundable and there is no formal appeals process for refunding these charges once paid".
Someone please tell me that there is huge misunderstanding somewhere that will be resolved.

If you registered it, and got the confirmation emails that it is indeed ULEZ exempt, then you should be good.
£300/day LEZ is for commercial vehicles, trucks and vans. Not for cars.2 -
This issue looks like it may have been resolved thankfully.
When I sent off the first email with a generic initial enquiry they replied with the mail quoted above ie. that "daily charge payments are non refundable"
My second email contained proof of make/model etc. I used the link above also register the vehicle again with additional info. Then after a call with them I was assured that I had done all I needed to do and to be patient as it takes up to 10 days to process. Today I received an email informing me that £900 is being refunded by cheque. This is adequate and expected.
My outstanding concerns are that the registration process is a little vague and unclear and also that had I relied on TFL to point me in the right direction from my first email I would have been given the impression that there was nowhere to go and little chance of a refund. I was given much clearer advise by phone.
Thanks to all who took the time to offer advice.2
