Mortimer Clarke referred back to client

Hi all,

I could do with some advice. I have received a letter from Mortimer Clarke this morning in ref to "Cabot financial UK" saying I owe £19+ k jointly with my ex husband, but the letter says the account has been referred back to the client and they will be in contact.

Key points for guidance:

I am not sure what debt this is for I don't recall anyone called Cabot financial.

My husband left and then went bankrupt back in 2011??.ISH  obviously leaving me with entire joint debt.

I took out a DM plan to clear this, but then cancelled and redistributed directly as it wasn't clearing anything fast enough.

Any ideas on where I stand or what MC solicitors may do next?

I thought this was all sorted and behind me.

Thanks in advance

What exactly do you mean by para 3?

Might be worth getting all three credit records and seeing if you have paid anything towards the "joint" debts in the last 6 years? And then coming back?

Cabot are a large debt purchasing company, who obviously purchased this debt, its not uncommon for bankruptcy debts to be re-sold, especially if the debts were joint and only one party went bankrupt.

At some point they have referred the account to their tame solicitors, Mortimer Clarke to look at potential legal action.

Now for some reason they have returned the debt to Cabot, this can`t be the first you`ve heard about this debt surely?
