Central Co-op App: Worth getting if you shop there, don't need to be an app shopper

If you or a relative shop at their local Central Co-op, the new app has some exclusive offers and discounts that don't actually require you to use the app, it just needs to be downloaded on a device somewhere, all the deals are actually tied to the membership number so the physical card in store works.
They have a weekly "game" which seems to always result in a free item (a bit gimmicky but I've had a free fajita kit and a free bag of pasta so far). A grandchild could always play this for a grandparent maybe - after all, free stuff is free stuff).
There are also "build-up" offers - currently spend £10 during Fairtrade Fortnight on any fairtrade items get £2 member cashback - which is credited to the membership account (not the app) for instant spend - the balance also shows on receipt so works fine for anyone into "offline" shoppping.

Well, another free bag of pasta and free curry sauce down the line I now have a free bottle of champagne if I spend a total of £150 over this month, and £40 cashback if I spend £400 before Christmas.
These offers are much like other supermarkets do via apps or vouchers at the till. I am just aware my local (quite big) Central Co-op has many elderly regular customers just using their membership card, and all these offers and freebies would still apply if someone downloaded the app and linked it to their parents or grandparents membership card as it's the membership number that triggers the discount at the till.
This is Central Co-op ( mostly certain stores in the Midlands and East Anglia area) not to be confused with Co-op Group, East of England Co-op, Heart of England Co-op, Lincolnshire Co-op or Midcounties Co-op. It should now include former Chelmsford Star Co-op branches once the tills are updated as they have merged into Central Co-op.1
