Employment & Self-employment NI contributions

Hi there, I'm trying to navigate National Insurance payments as both employed and self-employed.
Looking at my 2024-25 self assessment calculation, I wondered if anyone would be able to advise whether I needed to make the voluntary Class 2 payment or not.
My employment income was £27k, NI taxed at source.
Self-employment income was just over £3k, so I was given an option to pay Class 2 voluntarily, which I did, but now wonder whether I needed to?
Given voluntary Class 2 is to avoid gaps in State Pension years, I now think I already qualify for it by being employed? Are there any other benefits to paying the voluntary Class 2 NI?
Thanks so much!

While there are some subtleties, I suspect your employee Class 1 NI was all that you needed to pay. An exception might be if you earned all £27k in a small part of the year, or if your employment earnings fell below £123 a week for a period.N. Hampshire, he/him.
