Looking for evening/ weekend work

Sorry if this is the wrong sub. I work full time but would like some extra money. I don’t really want to work every evening or both Saturday and Sunday. Does anyone know what type of job or any I can do?

Perhaps a couple of bar shifts?

What skills/experience do you have? I'd expect an employer will want at least one day on the weekend plus a couple of week shifts.

We're coming up to Christmas temp staff season, that could be an option if you're looking for extra work over a fixed period - but it could mean you're required to work boxing day etc.

How flexible are you willing and able to be? Does your current employer bar additional outside work with/without permission?

How much sleep do you need and what time do you need to get up for work in the morning?  I used to work nights in a care home, its amazing just how many newbies thought they could do 9-5 then do a 12 night hour shift  and manage on a few hours sleep.  Of course 2 nights in and they realised their day job was at risk.

For instance if you need 8 hours sleep, leaving for work Monday to Friday at 06:00,  then with a bar job and travelling home afterwards  Sunday to Thursday evenings are out as you wont get home until after midnight in a pub, or later in a club.  Friday and saturday are your free nights.

The plus side to bar work is although you are working you are out in a social atmosphere, but not spending any money. Being available Friday or Saturday will make you more likely to be employed even with little or no experience. Most places are desperate for reliable weekend staff.  Sunday lunchtime is also an option.

Theres evening and weekend work at supermarkets and DIY chains, shelf stacking, tills etc.  Most will want you to attend some sort of safety training, they tend to wait until they have a group,  which might mean you taking a days holiday to attend, then waiting for a shift to be offered. The agencies will have cleaning and other evening shifts. Hotels and guest houses  in season. ,

Ask everywhere, bowling alley, swimming pool and look in shop windows for cards, local papers and online.

Usually the supermarkets have ongoing job openings for night and shift work stacking shelves

I enjoyed bar work and similar, in the right place it can be really social and you're being paid.

The idea of shelf stacking, (personally) is a thank you, but no thank you.

But you know, horses for courses.

A lot of retailers want you to have full availability. It was the first thing I was told when I handed in my CV for my current job. I knew that would be the case as it was the reason I avoided retail work when kids were young and I had no one to watch them because  there's rarely 'set' shifts, your hours can be anywhere and they frequently want weekend working (and evenings if they open then). Of course it may vary area to area. Bar work though is more likely to be busy Fri/Sat nights and Sunday lunchtime as already mentioned.
