As much as I've tried to find anything about the above title, obviously now called child benefit, on here I can't find anything. I'm asking because my mother has seen some articles on Google and I'm very weary that it could be a scam?, if anyone could help me with further information I would appreciate it. Thank you.

It isn't a scam but paying a third party to do it is likely to be a scam as they cannot do anything your mother can't do herself (or with your help).
If you doubt that just think about where the third party needs to get their information from 🤔

I wonder if there might be confusion about Home Responsibilities Protection. Have a look here

And note that the HRP reclaim topic isn't to get a refund of any money paid, but rather to get additional NI credits which could potentially result in a higher State Pension if your mother isn't already at the maximum achievable (which will depend on when she reaches/reached State Pension Age. If it does turn out that there has been missed HRP which should have given a higher pension ,then any shortfall wil l lbe backdated so a lump sum could be due.2

Definitely do it yourself, a quick letter to HMRC or DWP will start the ball rolling, if you get in touch with one of two companies I know of peddling their wares for this, they are taking 36% plus VAT and 40% plus VAT of any arrears due to you and they want the arrears paid into their bank account and they will distribute the rest.
Not a chance I'd be willing to take for the price of a couple of stamps to HMRC / DWP to follow up on it for free.0
