Doesn't it make more sense to have your cash assets within your SIPP and your non-cash in an ISA? Surely your SIPP capital gains would be taxable as income when taken from your SIPP whereas any gain of any sort in an ISA is tax-freeAlbermarle said:It also depends on what assets you have outside the pension.

With cash outside a SIPP, you can easily shop around for the best rates. Go for fixed rates etc and if you have an easy access account you can get immediate access ( or close ) to them .Or even try your luck with Premium Bonds.
My main point was really to look at a portfolio in the round and not just at individual parts. I probably phrased it in the way I did as probably most people keep cash in savings accounts.
