B&M System Glitch Charging Customers for Items Not Purchased

I wanted to bring to your attention a worrying issue at B&M stores, which appears to be a known system glitch at the tills.

On Saturday, I was incorrectly charged £2.64 for a cleaning product that I definitely did not purchase at the B&M branch. When I queried this with the store manager, she confirmed that they are aware of this glitch and assured me that the amount would be refunded.

I asked why this problem hasn’t been fixed and why customers are not being informed about a glitch where tills may be adding extra items to their bills. Unfortunately, she was unable to provide an answer. Today, another manager contacted me saying that the system issue is still ongoing. 

This raises serious concerns:

• Are B&M and its management aware of the scale of this glitch?
• How many customers have been overcharged without realising it?
• Why is there no public notice warning shoppers to check receipts carefully?

Given the potential impact on thousands of shoppers—many of whom may never notice small extra charges—I feel this issue deserves wider attention.

Is this glitch such that a specific £2.64 product may be added to the bill of shoppers or is the problem more general, and random items might be added?

I was unaware of this glitch until now, but I always get a paper receipt after shopping there and I don't leave the store (I move away from the checkout area though!) until I've gone through it line for line to ensure I've been correctly charged for each item, that no extras have been added that I didn't purchase and that all offers have correctly gone through (2 for 1, 3 for £10 etc.).

It takes a few minutes but it's far easier to sort out mistakes doing this rather than getting home and having to go back to the store.
