    You'll be able to move your mortgage to a new fix with your existing provider without a credit check.

    As a home owner you need to make sure you've got  a decent monthly allowance for maintenance and a good emergency fund in case of stuff that's not covered by insurance.

    Yes I have a locked in rate for the next few years, so no immediate mortgage concerns. It's almost certain that the new rate will be higher on my next fix, so another hurdle to overcome then.

    It won't be easy but yes I will need a slush fund as such for property maintenance etc.
