E: 20/09 Win a hedge trimmer with telescopic pole & battery worth £124

Its hedge trimming time.

And what better way to do it than with a Webb ECO Cordless Mini Chainsaw with Telescopic Pole Reach PLUS battery - worth £124.99 each.

Webb Gardening Expert Adam Woolcott told Sun Gardening: "Warm summer temperatures combined with recent rainfall have triggered
an explosion of fresh growth, so cutting back now will keep your garden neat right through autumn.

"Choose a dry, cloudy day that’s not too hot. Bright sun can scorch freshly cut foliage, especially on box hedges.

"For tall or wide hedges, a cordless long-reach hedge trimmer (like
the Webb Eco range) is a safe, ladder-free option.

"Smaller hedges can be tackled with secateurs or shears, and for intricate topiary, hand tools often give better precision.

"For hedges with fine leaves such as conifers, yew or box, spread a tarpaulin beneath before trimming to catch clippings and make tidying up easier.

"Trim the sides first, then the top. Work upwards from the base so cuttings don’t fall on freshly trimmed sections. Aim for a
slight taper – wider at the base – to improve light penetration and encourage even growth.

"If you have a large volume of branches and twigs, consider using a garden shredder to reduce them for easier disposal or composting.

"Mulched clippings can make excellent organic matter for your borders.

"Always wear safety glasses and gloves, keep your footing secure, and don’t overstretch.
"Sharp, clean blades make neater cuts and reduce the risk of plant damage.

"With the right tools, good technique and a little care, your hedges and shrubs will look sharp well into autumn.
