Morning @ScarletRibbons thanks for starting us off x
Another earlier start for me but BIL is coming to hopefully finish off the bathroom today, so at least I’ll be ready!! I also need to sweep the patio and front step as the leaves are coming down thick and fast and are very slippery.Financial review went well, just a couple of questions over my work pensions - still getting over the shock of approaching retirement - in my head I’m still 25!! Also dropped off the large donation to the charity shop, so dining room now less cluttered. We finished watching series one of The Responder last night. Thought we’d seen it but neither of us could remember what went on. Think it was first out during the Covid years which now seem a bit blurry. Enjoyed it and can now start series two!More washing and ironing to do today plus a Friday today of sorts - will work around BIL. Dinner is an easy grilled gammon, egg, baked beans and chips.Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 18/25 Currently reading It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover13 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet.
Wet and dismal this morning, yesterday saw some very sharp, heavy showers one when the children were out playing. They were stuck outside as the doors were closed so we had a lot of children looking for dry clothes! Got very annoyed with a member of staff who should have been out watching them and was inside on her phone, grr.
Another 10 hour day yesterday at work, at least we seem to be getting somewhere albeit slowly. The tubs were all planted up with the help of a little P2 who can be a bit troublesome in the playground but absolutely loves 'doing the flowers'!
I've been giving out veggies from the allotments to the neighbours and one left a lovely fresh foccacia on the doorstep yesterday that was absolutely delicious, very kind of them.
Lovely to hear you're going to meet with someone Mehefin, company is a great thing.
Happy holidays Nanny.
It'll be lovely to have your bathroom finished Coxy.
Hope everyone is well, take care. XX12 -
Morning again, hope you enjoyed your riotous day yesterday Coxy!
I went out with dh when he went to the hearing aid clinic, and popped into H*me Bargains. I bought bin liners, dishwasher cleaning packs and a couple of other household things, so it was worth going.
Mehefin I'm so pleased for you, glad you've met someone.
Not a lot going on today except visiting another one of my house bound elderly friends. Truth to tell, I could do without going out, I had a bad night, but I should be home by lunchtime.
Thoughts to Dp1's dgd who has done so well, with Mum and grandma backing her all the way.
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.13 -
Morning all. The sun's shining here at the moment.
My clothes are lying on the spare bed, ready to be packed, so I'll be doing that soon and then we'll be on our way to Swanage for the Folk Festival. Rain might be around on Sunday but otherwise we should be ok.
Our new curtains are up and make downstairs look a lot lighter so we're very pleased with them. The old ones are currently sitting in the garage, awaiting a tip visit. DH had to change some of the curtain hooks as the plastic snapped when they came down but we have a whole jar of spares!
Hope everyone's weekend goes well. Back on Tuesday.13 -
Morning everyone it will be nice to have your bathroom finished Coxy your dinner sounds delicious makes me feel hungry and I’ve just had my breakfast. I’m off out to do my volunteering now I don’t know how I will manage today when walking back from getting my haircut yesterday I started getting foot pain I’ve suffered for years with plantar fasciitis and it’s really painful I’ve hardly slept and I’m hobbling around I feel like I’m walking with a ball under my arch I can’t remember it been this bad before but I think I forget when it eases off I will see what I feel like in the next half hour. It’s nice and bright outside it’s supposed to stay dry all day WL enjoy the festival fingers crossed it stays dry for you . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning all, woke up to blue sky but just had a heavy shower. Want to take LDog out but he doesn't seem keen
The park seems very quiet now the children are back at school. Spoke to DGD , the coat I ordered has been delivered. She sounded quite bright and had a decent day at school so that's good. We have to pick DGS up today,1st time from high school. They come out 35 mins before the primary school so we'll need to set off at 2.30 to be able to park up. Camelot, I'm not surprised you were annoyed, doesn't sound right.
WL, enjoy your weekend away, and Nan your hols.Izzy, I have a lot of trouble with my feet, pronation which led to knee pain years ago, have to use insoles or at least the trainers that have good arch support, but I think all the extra dog walks haven't helped recently. Hope it eases soon. Not sure on tea- have plenty of choice after shopping delivery yesterday. We had stir fry yesterday.Hope you all have a good day.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for all the good wishes for little one, she's really enjoyed her first couple of days back at school. I'm having her tomorrow night so I'll get all the gossip and her opinion of the new teacher.
Spent nearly 2 hours on a video call with mam and dads bank yesterday morning, only to discover that I only had draft copies of the power of attorney and she needed to see the actual documents. Then phoned the solicitors who have them to discover I have to collect them in person, which means a little bus trip next week. Will persevere as it will make things easier if I'm named on their bank account.
Oh at one point dad asked the lady on the laptop if she wanted a cup of tea!
I'll go down this morning to do his banking, then to work at lunchtime.
Good for you Derek x
Hope everyone has a good day x9 -
Morning all, thanks for the start @Scarlet. Summer now seems a distant memory with autumn having its feet well and truly under the table! Today's weather is once again forecast to be changeable with a fine and chilly start, showers in the afternoon followed by a dry evening. It should, however, be better than yesterday when the heavens opened up at school pick up time - we even had a few rumbles of thunder.
I had such a lovely crafting day yesterday that I think I might have one every week! I caught up with this week's Sewing Bee too while I had a coffee break and the result was as I expected it would be, but I wouldn't like to predict who will be leaving next week. Usual Friday admin today including a meal plan for the coming week that should see the freezer contents reducing a bit - there's certainly enough in there! There's also some fridge leftovers of potatoes and broccoli; I'm thinking bubble & squeak type patties. Tea tonight is a piece of chilli & lime coated fish.
@Coxy - Even though I've been retired 18 years, my head still thinks I'm a youngster but the body sometimes likes to remind me otherwise!
@camelot - I hope your 10 hour days improve soon. Maybe the little P2 person is a budding Mr Titchmarsh!
@WL - Have a good time at the Folk Festival, fingers crossed for dry weather.
Right, it's time to put the Office Head on so I'll wish you all a good day and safe journeys for those heading off on holidays. Take care, hugs available if needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning allBack from shopping. Took hearing aids back. I was expecting a hard sell but, no, he was fine and accepted my comments and I got a refund there and then. My NHS hearing test appointment came yesterday and it's at the end of the month so that's good.Nothing else happening today. Might get out in the garden as it's stopped raining at last and we're expecting sunny spells todayHave a good day all xx8
