Bibit ??

Ive had money taken from my bank account from BIBIT internet regular payment. I have no idea what its for and all i can find on the forums about BIBIT is the telephone company that use it. I do not use this service and never have so have no idea what it could be.

I have called my bank and they are investigating but in the meantime i am now without a bank card which means hassle to get my wages out on friday .

I know its not a big amount but I am really worried that they might take more. Any ideas guys?

if you have told your bank abt them and that you dont know who they are surly they will put a stop on any more money going out.. also if they are a genuine company you use and they go under a different name on your bank details ( not uncommen) then they will contact you to ask why payment was stopped,, if you havnt told the bank to stop further payments then do so now.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
They seem to have quite a few clients (small sample at http://www.bibit.com/clients.shtml) and were bought by WorldPay last year. As it's described as a regular payment, have you signed up on-line for Vodafone, book/record club recently.?

Do you not use Call 18866 or 1899 for telephony services, as I understand that Bibit handle their invoice payments (as per a footnote on their invoices)?

The only other possibilities I can think of are

    1) Identity theft.
    2) Bank have confused you with another customer, possibly with the same name, which has happened to me in the past.

Why do you have to wait a week for the bank to get back to you?
  • hi loopyloo. is it a debit card payment or direct debit?

if its a direct dedbit cancel it immediately and your bank will/ should have a telephone number if not an address for them. contact them, or otherwise jsut ask your bank to do an indemnity. this will recover your money (in theory) immediately or at worst within a day or two.

if its a debit card payment (which the tone of your post leads me to believe) then cancel the card (again it sounds like you have done this). this wont however necesssarily stop the payments but if any future payments are taken these can be recovered by the bank if they are not authorised.

usually the bank will credit the funds back pending investigation but i agree you should not have to wait for a week.

i dont have any direct debits set up for this company so i would imagine its a debit card payment. The bank have cancelled my card and are opening a fraud investigation. Was told i would have the card within 4-5 working days and the same for an answer on who took my money

TBH I would be straight back on to the bank tomorrow, asking for more details of the source document/transaction/mandate. If you are not happy with the response try to escalate the issue i.e speak to someone with more authority.
