UKPC using address that hasn't been on the V5C for months
A month or so ago, I received an invoice from UKPC for an alleged infraction dated June 2025. This invoice had my correct current Address B on it, presumably they got it from DVLA.
I wrote to the land owner but otherwise ignored the invoice, with a plan to fight it if it gets to court, using the guidance on this amazing sub forum.
I got a couple of other 'chaser' invoices that I ignored.
Today, I've received a couple of fwded letters from Address A, which were again the same UKPC invoices and charges, but now addressed to my previous Address A.
I have two questions please -
1. I didn't intend to communicate with them until it gets to the correct stage but I don't want them to sneakily use an old address and get a judgement by default if this gets to court after my forwarding runs out in a few months. What's the best way to tell them to only use the correct address (ie the one that's been on the V5C for many months before the date on the invoice), is emailing them using the email address on the invoice ok?
2. How the hell did they get my previous address and why on earth would they write to that address given that I updated the V5C with the correct address many months before the alleged infraction?

When was the original “offence” ?
They typically are only allowed to as for you details from DVLA once and if that predates you updating your V5, then that will be the details provided at the time2 -
@lightflare The address was updated on the V5C in January 2025 when we moved.LightFlare said:When was the original “offence” ?

The "offence" date mentioned on the invoice is xx-June-2025, so many months after the V5C was updated.
They sent invoices to the correct current address first, which computes as that's the address on the V5C. About a month later, they're sending chasers to the old address, which is what completely threw me off.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They got the possible second address by doing a soft trace which they are entitled (required) to do. Nothing wrong with testing two addresses to see if a response arrives.
Just email UKPC's DPO email and attach a recent utility bill from your current address to prove where you live and tell them to erase the old address.
Please can you show all the letters in the order they arrived? Are they all from UKPC?
I want to show the lack of reminder letters (at £100) to the Government.

If they have access your credit record there will be previous addresses listed on that. That might account for the "how" but not the "why".
But as Coupon-mad has said tell them to ERASE the old address immediately. And you might want to ensure your redirect of postage remains in place for a while longer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. "I wrote to the land owner but otherwise ignored the invoice, with a plan to fight it if it gets to court".I think you have answered your own question, they got no response so tried a trace, C-M has therefore answered your query

Thanks all, much appreciated!
I'll write a short email to the DPO email address as advised, asking them to erase the old address and attaching proof of the current address.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. @Coupon-mad Apologies, I haven't kept the letters or properly kept track, just straight to the bin.Coupon-mad said:Please can you show all the letters in the order they arrived? Are they all from UKPC?

From memory
- first invoice offering a discounted payment, at the correct address
- another one similar to the above, at the correct address
- 'final reminder' type of letter, at the correct address
- warning of legal action, at the old address, saying that no longer possible to pay discounted amount (redirection usually takes 10-14 days so might have arrived earlier)
- another warning, again at the old address
All the above from UKPC, with a photo of the "offence"
I've now received a letter from ZZPS titled "Action Required: Outstanding Balance", again at the old address saying that they have been assigned to recover the unpaid invoice due to their client UKPC.

The letters from UKPC have stopped, I've now got a letter about the unpaid invoice from ZZPS Limited, who look like a debt collection agency?
Annoyingly, ZZPS have written to my old address. There's a data protection email address for ZZPS behind their letter, is there any risk from writing to them asking them to use my correct and current address? Like I did with UKPC?I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Nobody should still hold your old address as a choice to use for a court claim. Kill off that risk,
You should know they are a debt crawler because one of their daft £170 threatograms features in the pictures in post 4 of the NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST thread.

You can ignore ZZPS, post 4 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum
No problem in copying in the DPO at zzps same as happened with ukpc
Then ignore all the powerless debt collectors letters at your current address, especially companies like ZZPS3
