Stepchange DMP, payments

I have applied for DMP with stepchange, I have given 3 different payslips as my pay can be different each month as sometimes I do get offered overtime, but this isnt to often, how will they average my pay? Will they look at my highest payslip and go by that or go by my lowest wage earned?

First things first, have all your debts defaulted? It's far better for you in the long run if you stop paying them and wait for them to default before starting a dmp.

As far as Stepchange is concerned it's down to you to give them an accurate figure to use for your budget. You should tell them the  minimum you'll get each month to make sure you can always afford the payment, and save any extra you get.

Before you think about starting to pay Stepchange have your debts defaulted? Have you saved an emergency fund?

Do not make the mistake of rushing into a DMP too soon.

They will work out an average wage, not really a fan of any 3rd party organising my debt management plan, although they do serve a purpose, any reason why you can`t go self managed?

Some organisations will help you set up a DMP but then leave you to do the monthly payments.  CMA (community money advice), Citizens Advice and CAP (christians against poverty) I believe.

But as others say - default first and then once that's happened you can start to pay.  By standing order of course so you remain in control.
