Who exactly was this person who came round? What documentation did she leave. Name, company and phone number.

The only people who can come and take things are bailiffs, which is possible for HMRC debt.

If that's the case she needs a whole lot of different advice very quickly
I`m guessing it would have been one of HMRC tax inspectors, they have special legal rights to enter work premises to carry out inspection of documents, tax affairs etc, they cannot force entry to private property, but they can charge penalties if you do not cooperate with them.

    Let's hope.

Do the tax inspectors have guidance on what they take? For example is the wife's £3k car at risk?

I'm guessing that if the OP and his new wife are living in a house he owns with his ex wife, much of what's in there will be left overs from the first marriage, renewals and some of the new wife's belongings. So not exactly ripe pickings?

The lady was from Debt Management

    Field Collections

    HM Revenue and Customs

Left her name and phone number with papers of break down of fees and charges and breakdown of unpaid tax.

It stated in the letter if the debt isn’t paid then they will move to recoup costs via possessions which if I’m honest won’t be a lot.

The way we are looking at it is there is no money left from month to month we are getting by but nowhere near enough to pay the amounts they want so and correct if I’m wrong it’s either……

carry on wait for them to either send bailiffs and risk cars getting taken because and to quote when she spoke to her on the phone the lady said my manager will not except £200 a month and we typically Expect the balance to be cleared in 12-15 months.

She has done stepchange and money wellness filled all online forms and both came back with go bankrupt and she had a meeting on Tuesday with someone else.

Can we make an assumption and say the figure they have quoted is between 10k or 22k or there about what would your advice be then based on that being fact with very little disposable income and missed payments every month and late payments other months.

And make no mistake I very much value both your advice as have read your inputs and help over the years to other people and if I have and I hope I haven’t Is drip feed you information anything you need ask and I’ll do my best to answer.
