Retiring after self employment

I have reached state pension age and I am still working as a self employed carer in England.

I need to retire soon, work is getting harder to do as my mobility is getting worse and worse, i am hoping to retire November or December. When I retire i will need have my state pension and pension credits. I plan on moving to scotland to live nearer my children and have almost moved there, i have a flat and visit between jobs (i pay my rent from my wages)

When can i claim pension credits? being self employed can i apply for pension credits prior to finishing work? I am currently paying my rent in Scotland and working in England so its complicated. I cant claim housing benefit until i get pension credits. I dont want to be without any money while my pension credits come in as i am presuming it wont be a quick process?

From your other thread a few months ago, you say you've just committed to a 2 year fixed rate mortgage, which is presumably on your property in England.

Are you sure you'll qualify in Scotland in respect of your rented property when you have a mortgaged property in England?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
