Is it allowed to ask for a social media friend?

I don't see anything in the various rules posts preventing me doing so but before I ask, is it OK to ask if anyone would offer to be a friend on a given social media (especially less popular ones) platform? I don't want to  contravene any rules or etiquette. Thanks.
