Using student discount for a laptop I will use as a freelance and I intend to add in my tax claim

Hi!
I’m enrolled to university and I need a new laptop for my freelance business. If I use a student discount to buy it, can I then claim for it as a business expense? I do intend to use the laptop exclusively for the business.
Would the student discount be an issue?

It's fine. A student discount is only a marketing tool to get your business.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Assuming you're a sole trader then absolutely no issue. Have bought things with discounts I'm not entitled to and claimed the discounted price as business expenses without issue. Not my fault the merchant has weak processes that allow people to claim discounts.FoxFinance24 said:I’m enrolled to university and I need a new laptop for my freelance business. Just checking, do you have another device for non-business stuff? Your intention may be there, but being able to demonstrate it is another.Signature removed for peace of mind0
