Penalised for receiving WPA

After waiting 6 weeks for payment of the new style Job Seekers Allowance following redundancy I’ve just been told I’m not entitled to it because I receive Widowed Parents Allowance (this question wasn’t asked when I made the claim)
If my partner hadn’t died leaving me with a baby to bring up and he was here today earning let’s say £80,000 would I still be turned down for JSA because someone else in the household has an income? or am I being penalised for the fact I’m a single widowed parent?
Whilst the WPA has been an absolute godsend (thank you MSE for making all of us widowed unmarried parents aware of this) This allowance alone doesn’t cover the cost of bills, food, and putting clothes on my child’s back I still work.

I am astounded and disgusted that at the 11th hour the DWP have found a way to revoke my claim for help whilst I find another job

Your widows parents allowance is deducted from the new style JSA payment. As your WPA is more that the new style JSA payment no JSA payment is due.DWP do not make the rules. You may be able to claim UC depending on how much capital ( savings) you have0
