Would we still be able to move house if we reduce hours part time but have a large deposit and a small mortgage of between 50-70 thousand? Or less than that

Impossible to answer that question on so little information. What income would you have on the reduced hours? Do you have any other depts? What is the value of the house you want to buy?

Mortgages are based on affordability if they deem your income sufficient to make payments it does not matter if you work a 40 hour week or 4.

Can your new income justify a mortgage of the size you want?

If the income is enough to support the mortgage (in the eyes of the lender) then yes.

I would have a deposit of £140k max but my current house is worth £172 so if I did move to something same price I could mortgage as low as £30k but maybe higher if I wanted to retain savings. New working hours would be 16 and 20 or 30 hours
