Importing Building Material from Spain

Hi, we are building our extension, my husband is doing most of the work.
Previously we have imported tiles and materials direct from Spain, as it becomes way more cost effective, but this was prior to Brexit.
We want to import 10 pallets from Spain, mainly tiles. All products are EU manufactured.
The transport companies are asking me for EORI number and to be a CDS registered company. I have my own building company.
How would you proceed?

Not sure this is really a tax issue, but I'd proceed by getting an EORI number and registering with CDS!

Who's buying the materials? You or your company?

note that as your a related party party if the business imports them and sells them to you then they would need to charge you an arms length price, at least that go through the books so no selling them at cost or below etc.

Thanks. That is exactly my question, is it better to buy them as an individual or a company? Or sell them to my builder? Would I have to pay VAT both UK and Spain? Just trying to find out the best way... Can the company just be the importer and the goods are bought by me in/out?

As long as they are a competent company the Spanish VAT rate will be 0% for exports

You will then pay VAT and duty on import, assuming it's going to be over £135.

Normally if you are buying them for your home then you and not your company would buy them. If the company bought them you'd then need to buy it off the company at an appropriate commercial price because you are presumably also shareholders you are a related party and so the transaction will be under scrutiny else you'd reclaim the input VAT, sell them at a loss to yourself, pay less VAT and reduce your corporation tax by the loss.

What about if I buy them but transport them using the EORI of my company?
To be honest I was looking at buying the materials from a  B&Q type of place, so I would have to pay VAT in Spain...
I would buy it, palletize it, prepare all the relevant information and send it.
