Are you/her confusing Council Tax with being on the Electoral Roll? Just because CT have her info doesn't make it publicly accessible.

Even if you're on the Electoral Roll you can opt out of the publicly accessible version

What is her address in her driving licence/car insurance etc? If she has these registered at your address then it does look iffy.

So does protecting her privacy mean not wanting to share information because she’s not paying council tax anywhere; she is parked somewhere she shouldn’t be and she doesn’t want the council to find out; she’s avoiding the authorities for some other reason? 

Otherwise, as above, she either gives them enough information to let you off the hook, or she stumps up the 25% you will be losing.

Your local council will be sharing data with other Govt departments, e.g. DWP, HMRC, DVLA.

They may have found your name and her name linked to your address and are now making enquiries.

I'm assuming she's not on the electoral roll.

I suggest you send another letter to them, signed by both of you, confirming that you're the only occupant, that she does not live or stay with you and that she is only using your address as a maildrop.

If you don’t want to give them the information then ask her to do it.

Look at it from the council's point of view. She is using your address for mail and possibly has her vehicle registered there and when the council ask for further details, you don't co-operate. So they are going to be suspicious.


Your choice give them the required info or risk losing your SPD
